Of course, when most people hear the name Usain Bolt, they think breaking records in the 2008 Olympics, where he was celebrating before even crossing the line, or again in 2012 where he broke the Olympic record. But in Rio, 2016, there was something special about Usain Bolt’s performance.

Rio was home to one of the best moments in sports, where Canadian, Andre De Grasse challenged Bolt in the 200m semi-final, the photo of the 2 smiling mid-race sums up, really what, sport should be. It was a beautiful moment, and a photo that will likely be looked back on in history.

However, Bolt’s 100m Final in the 2016 Olympics is the specific moment I choose, as one of the greatest.

Bolt, did not start well, it was possibly his slowest start we had seen on the big stag of the Olympics, but in the end, that didn’t matter.

Long time rival, Gaitlin started phenomenally, and for majority of the race it would look like he would take out the gold, but then came Bolt, with the long strides everyone around the world knows.

Out of Lane 6, Bolt came to the front, right near the end and sealed his spot as the greatest sprinter in history, in the words of the commentator – “He’s immortal now.”

It was probably the first time we had seen Bolt appear to have to work for the win, and it was something very special to watch.

Behind for almost the whole race, there was a small moment where I, and I'm sure many others watching, thought maybe Bolt's time on top had come to an end. But watching Bolt come from behind was something special and we should have known he would win. Again, as the commentator called: “How dare, we ever doubt the greatest.”

It is unlikely we will ever see such a dominant runner again in our lifetime. Bolt’s stretch fr

om the 2008 Olympics, through to the 2016 Olympics, Bolt was, untouchable.

The iconic pose, the dancing, the smiling, the general personality, Bolt was not only the most dominant runner of his time, but one of the most liked athletes. There was something hypnotizing about watching Bolt perform on and off the track.
